Canfieldite on NATIVE Silver
Canfieldite is a very rare silver tin sulphide that rarely occurs as discrete individual crystals. This miniature specimen is from the famous Himmelsfürst mine in the Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany and consists of a spongy hackly mass of bright Native Silver upon which Canfieldite occurs as tiny spiky dull dark grey crystals. An unidentified pale grey globular phase is in evidence too. This really is an extreme rarity from Himmelsfürst mine. It is from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
