This magnificent crystallized small cabinet-sized Native Gold on Quartz is from a mysterious locality called "Dafu mine" in Sichuan, China. I have seen other specimens mentioned from there online, but no detailed explanation of where this mine is has been seen. This really is a very beautiful Native Gold and one can't help thinking that if it was from anywhere else it would be priced significantly higher. The Native Gold forms very thin platy masses aggregated together within white vein Quartz which has been acid etched to expose the dramatic visual display of Native Gold. The lower half of the specimen is kept as an 'island' of milky vein Quartz from which the Native Gold dramatically rises in a 3.5 cm tall and 4 cm wide mass. The whole specimen weighs 46 grams, a fair proportion of which must be coming from the Native Gold. A superb display quality Chinese Native Gold on matrix.
