Wulfenite
While starting out as a gold mining operation in the late 1800s that later closed in 1912, the San Francisco Mine quickly grew in popularity after its reopening in the mid 1980s for its excellent Wulfenite specimens. This cabinet-sized specimen is a superb example, presenting a large spread of thin, sharply-formed, yellow-orange, tabular Wulfenite crystals on a host rock matrix with classic associations of deep orange Mimetite botryoides. Each Wulfenite is transparent and complete all around with a glassy luster and nicely beveled edges. The largest Mimetite clusters are consolidated to the bottom and right side of the front view with some epitaxial growth on a handful of Wulfenite crystals. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
