Molybdenite
This is one of the better, if not the best Molybdenite specimens in Dan's collection, featuring several interwoven, textbook hexagonal crystals rising across a starkly contrasting matrix of Quartz and Feldspar. The largest and best defined Molybdenite crystal in the piece is prominently positioned near the epicenter of the piece, reaching a width of 4.9 centimeters-a size that is impressive for the species. Each crystal has the color, luster, and texture of slightly crinkled aluminum foil, offering a nice mirror quality on some of the smoother faces. The associated Quartz is nicely formed and opaque with a colorless to white hue and has a twinkling visual; while not as lustrous as the Quartz, the Feldspar has a light pink hue that gives a little extra balance to the specimen's overall color. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
