Apophyllite on Chalcedony
When you have so many excellent minerals coming out of a particular region, as we see in the Indian basalt fields, especially a group as versatile as zeolites, there becomes abundant opportunity for some really interesting combinations and forms. Chalcedony from the Jalgaon district has a tendency to form as stalactitic/straw-like pillars, as is the case here, and this creates a great foundation for two Fluorapophyllite (or just apophyllite) caps that have grown over the top two terminations. The crystals are clear, delightfully blocky, and very lustrous. This results in a stunning and incredibly unique aesthetic, quite unlike anything else! The peach-colored Stilbite crystals around the bottom of the specimen add a nice touch, forming as doubly-terminated bowties. This specimen comes with a custom acrylic base.
