Stibnite with Barite
Since the late Middle Ages, the town of Baia Sprie has been documented as an immensely important mining center for gold, silver, and other metal ores: documents dating back to the 14th century name this locality as a hub for exploiting important minerals. As a result of the prolific deposits here, we get a lot of excellent sulfide minerals in particular, like Stibnite. This cluster is exceptionally large on all axes, and the individual crystals themselves are quite thick (especially considering most Baia Sprie specimens are quite spindly) and finish with relatively flat, broad terminations. The gunmetal grey color is accented by spots of blue patina, and this contrasts well against the reddish matrix and layer of translucent, colorless Baryte. This specimen comes with a custom acrylic base.
