Pyrite Bar
It really is amazing seeing the many different ways Pyrite forms, especially with the rare and highly sought after Pyrite "bars" of the Viburnum Trend. This astonishing specimen is very substantial for the locality, presenting a single robust "bar" intersecting an imposing column of several blocky Pyrite crystals; the Pyrite in the column are stacked, exhibiting parallel growth and a slight offset to one another that gives the piece a gentle curvature. All over, the Pyrite has a resplendent, brassy color and strong metallic to mirror-luster. These Pyrite "bars" from the Buick Mine came from a famous find in 1974. Though, it wasn't until May of 2011 when Kennedy found this piece buried deep in a dealer's warehouse and added it to his collection. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
