Galena and Sphalerite
This weighty specimen is composed of bright, highly reflective clusters of sharp Galena crystals (up to 6.2 centimeters across) that nicely intermingle with a darker backdrop of Sphalerite. Along with its characteristic steely-grey color, the Galena is covered with stepped features and distinct hoppering. The masses of Sphalerite weave throughout the specimen, presenting nicely-formed, isometric crystals that are complete with a flashy luster. Minor associations of Chalcopyrite and Quartz are deposited across the bottom of the specimen. Dan nicknamed this piece as "the Death Star from Ross Lilly," alluding to the specimen's strongly geometric and unusual landscape, which is reminiscent of the iconic space station from Star Wars. The base designates this specimen as coming from the "Septemvri Mine," but Mogilata Mine is more likely correct.
