Pyrite
This unusual Pyrite specimen comes from the long-abandoned Blackstone Mine near the historical Shullsburg area. The Pyrite throughout the piece has a very strange and pronounced reniform structure that gives some of the larger formations an interesting mushroom shape; the best of these is located near the top of the specimen. Many of the "caps" are detailed with thin, stepped features and druzy surfaces that nicely accent the specimen's slight metallic sheen. This piece was originally in the personal collection of a miner from the Blackstone Mine, eventually finding its way into Dan's repertoire of spectacular sulphide specimens. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
