A Spanish and indeed Fluorite classic. Fluorite crystals from La Collada mining area have such a distinctive form with their amazing prominent rough-textured bevelled edges but it is also their vibrant purple colour and contrasting glassy, bluish cubic faces with darker purple matt truncated edges that makes them stand out. This really fine miniature from the famous Josefa-Veneros vein in Basurto mine, highlights all of those classic features, but also displays quirks, such as some of the bevelled edges being smooth, and some of the cubic faces glassy with a fine internal view, but others frosted. Comprising entirely Fluorite, as an aggregate of crystals, the specimen is dominated by one excellent crystal, 2.8 cm across. Directional back-lighting works really well on this piece, bringing out the amazing colour zoning. Ex Arvid Pasto collection.
