That´s a real killer specimen: Quartz crystal with papagoite inclusions from the old shaft5 mine, Messina district, Limpopo Province, South Africa
A very fine, extremely rich example of the ultra-blue mineral papagoite, included inside quartz.
This is from the famous find of the late 1980s at the Messina Mine, now legendary among collectors.
While ajoite in quartz was common, such rich inclusions of Papagoite were never common and were found in perhaps just in a few crystal specimes.
These are extremely hard to obtain in any decent quality. This piece is shockingly rich, loaded with color.
What makes it special is that this piece is NATURAL and not polished as is typically the case.
I have never seen this old material from the 80s in such a quality. Glassy, lustrous, 3 dimensional, unrepaired, natural, ... a stunning specimen from the Messina Mine, Limpopo, Shaft #5, South Africa
Location: From Mussina District, South Africa
Measures: 10,8 x 4,8 x 5,2 cm in total size.
And many thanks to Laszlo Kupi from Finemineralphotography for this fantastic shot! @finemineralphotography
