BARYTE with Dolomite
This is a fine aggregate of parallel tabular pale grey transparent to translucent Baryte crystals, forming what in essence looks like a larger single crystal. This aggregate is attached to, and skewered by, a small mass of cream coloured Dolomite. This is the classic form of Baryte and classic association known from the West Cumbrian Iron Mining District. The Baryte crystals display some minor damage in the form of edge wear and internal fractures, but is in overall good condition with an extremely glassy surface lustre. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2001.020.
