Fluorite ps. Petrified Wood from Germany
Fluorite pseudomorphs after petrified wood from Hilbersdorf (Chemnitz Petrified Forest), Saxony, Germany, are unique worldwide, formed when Permian-age wood logs were partially replaced by quartz and lavender-blue fluorite that preserved original growth rings and bark textures. With the Chemnitz petrified forest now a protected geological area where collecting is forbidden, existing specimens such as this one remain highly prized by mineral enthusiasts. This specimen has been sliced and polished to best show the incredible petrified wood/fluorite zoning
