Dalnegorsk is a mining region centred on the city of Dalnegorsk in eastern Russia, 300 km northeast of Vladivostok. The Dalnegorsk region sits in the Sikhote-Alin range on the Taukha terrane and was founded in 1897 as Tetyukhe following the discovery of lead–zinc mineralization. Its boron-rich skarn deposit began production in 1907, yielding Pb, Zn, and rarer minerals like datolite, rhodochrosite, wülfingite, fluorite, and pyrrhotite. It remains acclaimed among collectors for fine specimens. This specimen consists of several large intergrown crystals of manganocalcite on matrix. Manganocalcite is a manganese-rich variety of calcite (CaCO₃) in which trace amounts of Mn²⁺ substitute for Ca²⁺, giving the crystals a distinctive pink to reddish hue.
