Luanheite with EUGENITE
Luanheite and Eugenite are both very rare silver mercury alloys, or amalgams, and as such never form discrete crystals. This large miniature specimen from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) is a very rich 'sheet' of silvery and grey tarnished metallic Luanheite and Eugenite. It is recorded as from Privol'noye mine which is one of the two richest sources of these rare natural alloys, but in reality, that name is a westernized term for Khachakchan Ag-Sb-Hg deposit, Sakha Republic, Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia. The size of this specimen is good, making it quite prominent. One protruding sheet of metal alloy rising up from the main mass adds character.
