Cerussite
Historic Tsumeb Cerussites with this robust "reticulated" twinning are highly coveted for their beauty and form. This piece from a famous 1970s find is somewhat more pretty than many with its light golden-amber color, combined with a sparkle. It is translucent to somewhat gemmy, has great luster and of course the characteristic cyclical twinning. The longest twin components measure 5.8 and 4 cm with others in this intricate, almost snowflake-looking piece between 0.5 and 3 cm. It could be displayed in a couple of orientations it has such great composition. There is contacting at the bottom of the piece and the ends of some of a few of the crystals are compromised. Overall, the Cerussite is in excellent condition on the big crystals atop as you see it shown here; although the sides to the left and right show contact and damage where it was removed in pocket. So it stands dramatically, looks beautiful, but admittedly has damage up close on the sides that reduce it from an otherwise 5-figure value — although it has the impact. A showy small cabinet piece with very good representation of the twinning habit and great visual appeal, from 1970s production here. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Mimetite (SYP25-14a) and Mimetite ps. Cerussite (SYP25-14b).
