Manganite ps. Pyrolusite with Baryte
A divergent cluster of elongate Manganite crystals that have replaced the original Pyrolusite from the classic locality of Ilfeld in the Harz Mountains of Germany. Long prismatic, highly lustrous, silvery charcoal colored black Manganite crystals to 5 cm in length dominate the display front of this 3-dimensional piece that has numerous, incomplete blades of Baryte mixed in for nice composition. Manganite specimens came out of this noted locality in the 1880s and are world classics and were rarely altered to or altering after other species in some areas of the deposit. An excellent example of this pseudomorph! Stretch obtained this from an old collection we dispersed over 20 years ago. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Manganite (SYP25-19a) and Pyrolusite (SYP25-19c).
