Siderite ps. Ilvaite$450.00

Some mineral specimens are interesting due to their appearance, while some are intriguing due to what they represent. This special piece is both and it originates from the very significant locality of Dalnegorsk, Russia. This pseudomorph features a 3 cm, tan Siderite after an Ilvaite crystal which is positioned coming out from among a nest of lightly coated Quartz points and what may be other much smaller Siderite after Ilvaite pseudos. The big crystal preserves the form of the original Ilvaite fairly well as it is recognizable although slightly rough on crystal faces and there is a 1 cm furrow running up one of the prism faces that may represent some dissolution during formation. There is also a single, 1.7 cm, translucent white Calcite disc off to one side that is transparent at the edges. It really adds balance to the piece accompanied by the statuesque pseudomorph! Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Siderite (SYP25-20a) and Ilvaite (SYP25-20c).
