The intense electric-blue colour of the recently discovered Veszelyite from Sanguozhuang Pb-Zn mine, Sanguozhuang, Dongchuan District, Kunming, Yunnan, China is amazing. Widely regarding as having produced the world's finest specimens of Veszelyite - copper zinc phosphate hydrate hydroxide - it is not so much the size of the individual crystals but the richness and consequent aesthetics of these beautiful specimens. This small cabinet specimen is carpeted in a crust of sumptuous, electric-blue, rosetted and spiral aggregates of bladed Veszelyite with an incredibly 'wet' lustre. It really does show wonderfully well the richness of what has been found at that mine. Where the internal parts of the Veszelyite aggregates are exposed, the colour becomes much brighter. This is an exceptionally rich Veszelyite: colourful, dramatic, and well-crystallized. A truly show-stopping piece, sure to grab attention in any cabinet.
