A rich butterscotch or amber colored crystal, this has stunning metallic luster and form and leaps out to the eye. Tsumeb has produced notable Wulfenite specimens of varying color, and this single perfect complete crystal is simply one of the finest such specimens I have seen, from anywhere. Admittedly, butterscotch sounds like, well, just tan... but this needs to be put in context. The glassy, adamantine luster is so mirror-like and superb that the crystal simply glows: interior, color, and all. The cluster is centered on one outstanding, 2.2 cm crystal, with smaller, intergrown crystals adding depth and interest. Each is beveled and equally lustrous, making this cluster virtually seamless visually. Thick and stout and incredibly aesthetic, this is a choice Wulfenite thumbnail from any locale — but especially for Tsumeb. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 25105.
