Scorodite with unknown
Scorodite, an iron arsenate found worldwide, is well-represented at Tsumeb, including those from the famous "gem pocket" found in the late 1980s. This style came out in the mid 1980s. Scorodites are almost instantly recognizable because of their amazing, glassy luster, as well as the grey-blue color such as we see here. Ranging in size from 2-4 mm, the euhedral crystals are abundant in several crevasses within the matrix; and much of the matrix appears to be massive Scorodite, itself (a mix of blue and green hues for some reason). There is one area that is rich in lustrous, yellowish micro-crystals that are said to be Ojuelaite in our catalog (although we have not confirmed that). This is a fine miniature, with excellent, quality crystals. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 27787.
