Quartz
When was the last time you saw a specimen from Luxembourg for sale? If you live in Luxembourg then that is probably a stupid question, but until this one I had never seen another. Not only is it from this small, but historically important, European country but it is a lovely display piece too. From Schimpach, it is from Quartz veins in Devonian slates. Full of character, this small cabinet specimen features wonderful green-tipped chlorite-included long prismatic terminated Quartz crystals of the variety Rock Crystal. These crystals rise up at a shallow angle from a thin plate of small flattened Quartz crystals in an attractive arrangement. The longest crystal reaches 9.2 cm in length. All of the Quartz crystal termination have some minor damage in the form of chipping, and the main crystal has a shallow 1.6 cm long section on its main prism side which is missing, where the outline of another missing crystal can be seen. However, this is a European rarity, and looks distinctive. An old accompanying label has the feel of significant age. It has the number 1910 written on it, but that does not appear to be a year date, although the style of label is early 20th century.
