Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral that forms with tremendous diversity. Fine Jalgaon examples are rare and unique, and even more rarely seen in large size, with excellent translucency, and rich color. This impressive example is especially large and comprises sharply-formed, interpenetrant rhombohedral crystals. Blessed with a deeply saturated, honey-yellow color and excellent clarity, the piece has a natural radiance that is practically luminescent.
