Celestite
Celestite from Sakoany Mine, Madagascar. 21st Century.
Celestite is a strontium sulfate, named for its ‘heavenly,’ sky-blue to periwinkle tone. Sakoany is the premier locality for the species, producing examples with a richness of tone, size, and luster unseen from any other place on earth. This dazzling cluster is a testament to its locality. It has distinct, sizeable crystals, excellent transparency, vitreous luster, and the sky blue color for which the species is loved.
