Hilton mine is the most famous mine for amber-coloured Fluorite in England but top quality specimens are hard to find. Featuring two separate interpenetrant twinned crystals, the largest with crystals to 1.4 cm on edge, this miniature specimen has lots to offer. Both crystals are quite gemmy, but do each have one slightly etched crystal face. One of the crystals displays fine internal zoning, with a rich amber colour and a thin internal band of fine-grained Pyrite. This same crystal displays a remarkable 'pyramidal' adaption to one of the flat faces, where the effects of twinning rises to the surface. These main crystals stand up against a backdrop of duller, inclusion-rich frosted, cream-coloured smaller Fluorite crystals upon a small piece of rock matrix. The main crystal faces and edges are pristine, although the back of one of the crystals, where it is at the edge of the specimen, is indented slightly where another crystal has been removed. Aesthetically, this piece sits perfectly for display and looks extremely classy.
