Beryl var. Aquamarine
Shigar Valley, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan
3.4x1.9x.1.7cm
Very unique aquamarine "scepter" from Shigar Valley in Pakistan. Light blue color, with complex surface patterns and slightly bowed crystal faces, from natural etching. This is my favorite example of a scepter shaped aquamarine from this region. Generally aquamarine "scepters" are made from etching as opposed to other species that have a primary growth "stem", with secondary growth "cap", growing over each other in the same direction. In the case of aquamarine the term scepter is reference to the shape of the crystal, resembling true sceptered growth.
This crystal was in the personal collection of the miner who discovered it, until it was purchased in Pakistan last fall.
Comes with a laminated identification card
