Fluorite with BARYTE
Relative to the nearby Elmwood mine, specimens from Gordonsville mine are a rarity. This miniature specimen from Drift 58-18 at Gordonsville, was in the collection of Arvid Pasto, who published the book, Collector's Guide to Fluorite, in 2009. One can immediately see the similarities with Elmwood mine, so it is nice to have the very detailed provenance on this one. The Fluorite cubes reach up to 1 cm on edge, are well-formed, and display wonderful colour-zoning from a rich purple body colour with a thin dark purple band near to the edge of each crystal. The white Baryte matrix further enhances the appearance of these lovely Fluorite crystals.
