Fluorite and BARYTE on Chalcedony
This small cabinet-sized Fluorite specimen is a real rarity. Initially it might not look the most aesthetic, or best crystallized of Fluorite pieces, but have a look at the locality. Anaconda is a ghost town in the Cripple Creek Mining District, Teller County, Colorado, USA. Fluorite is uncommon in the Cripple Creek Mining District, but this association of tiny pale purple Fluorite cubes on grey Chalcedony was encountered in the Anaconda Tunnel indicating a possible more precise source. Specimens from from the Anaconda Tunnel are rarely seen, but so too are any from the Anaconda area. This is classic material, the Fluorite crystals forming complicated clustered aggregated crystals with a few bladed crystals of what appears to be Baryte. As a bonus the specimen is double-sided - double the Fluorite for your money - the only decision is which way around to present it! Ex Arvid Pasto collection.
