Euxenite-(Y)$250.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
The granite pegmatite at Urstad Feldspar mine at Hidra (Hitterø), Flekkefjord in southwest Agder, Norway is famous for very large crystals of Aeschynite-(Y) and some impressive Gadolinite-(Y) too. This is not where the rare earth element (REE)-bearing minerals finish though as seen with this nice Euxenite-(Y). It was previously labelled as Polycrase-(Y) but this identification has been updated to reflect the current position of the IMA that Polycrase-(Y) is identical to Euxenite-(Y) whose name takes precedence. In this miniature specimen Euxenite-(Y) forms a 1.6 cm long dark brown bladed crystal embedded flat within pegmatitic matrix, thus displaying the full 'blade' from one side with other bladed crystals evident in cross-section elsewhere in the specimen. Ex the comprehensive rare species collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
