A pair of beige-yellow, translucent, octahedral crystals of a "Microlite Group" mineral adorn the top of a cluster of snow-white Albite crystals. The rather large Microlite crystals measure 1.8 and 1.6 cm in maximum dimension, respectively. The crystals are super sharp, translucent to almost transparent in places with great octahedral form. They are perched nicely on blocky, white Albite crystals and then the Albites are dusted with streaks of tiny, silver-green Muscovite crystals that tend to highlight the intersections of the Albite crystals. A very unique and very good MATRIX Microlite specimen as it has such nice balance to display the crystals against contrasting matrix! These are Microlites, but the classification of the Microlite group is so complicated, and somewhat in flux as new subspecies are named, that we have not analysed it to determine the particular subspecies. This was one of the best examples we know of from a recent find of 2024, a huge surprise, initially thought to be scheelites.
