Whim Creek in Roebourne Shire, Western Australia is one of Australia's best-known Wulfenite localities, but has also produced remarkable pseudomorphs of Chrysocolla after Azurite and Malachite. This material was discovered in the eary 1980s and was very short-lived. The combination of both pseudomorph and Wulfenite together create wonderous specimens both geochemically and aesthetically. This assemblage, or combination, is unique to Whim Creek and standout amongst worldwide occurrences of Wulfenite, and the Chrysocolla pseudomorphs after Azurite and Malachite are like nothing else on Earth too. This cabinet specimen is from David Hardman's collection (no. 5194) and displays the classic sinter-like gossanous rock matrix, brecciated, and held together by the Chrysocolla pseudomorphs, with the surface of these and the gossan richly scattered with cream-coloured bipyramidal Wulfenite crystals. An Australian classic.
