From a recent find at in the Viking Orebody at Avebury Nickel Deposit in Zeehan mining district, Tasmania, come these magnificent Brucite crystals. Unlike most other world occurrences of this rare magnesium hydroxide these crystals are three-dimensional tapering prisms. Fanning outwards and terminated by a basal pinacoid face, these crystals are both colourful - a pale golden yellow - and lustrous, with a superb combination of waxy and pearlescent surfaces. The crystals form an almost pure bed of parallel, to near parallel crystals, individually measuring over 1.4 cm in length on a matrix of massive Brucite. The light reflects off the flat-topped terminations of the Brucite crystals wonderfully, like the reflections around a disco ball! This material is world-class for the species and sure to become a classic. This superbly crystallized small cabinet specimen has no damage and is one of the largest specimens from this find.
