Tetrahedrite with Chalcopyrite and Quartz$1,200.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This is an extremely fine classic Tetrahedrite miniature from one of the all-time great occurrences, at Herodsfoot mine in Cornwall. Featuring extremely well-formed tetragonal Tetrahedrite crystals to 1.9 cm on edge and with the iconic Herodsfoot coating of golden Chalcopyrite, this is a beauty. These large Tetrahedrite crystals are aggregated with a little Quartz, but they maintain excellent shape. There is some contact damage to the ends of at least six of the crystals, but this is still in excellent shape for its age - most having been collected c. 1860s. A large suite of labels accompany this specimen, most recently from Malcolm Southwood (no. MS 2014.198), David Cowan and Simon Camm. The earliest label is from American dealer Hugh Ford (1885-1966) whose notes on the back reveal that he received it from Thurston Phetteplace (1911-1995). A fascinating specimen.
