This fine North American Libethenite is an old-timer from Ray mine in Pinal County, Arizona. From the well-known discovery during the 1960s which was rapidly mined away during openpit operations, this is a substantial and quite showy example. The Libethenite occurs as microcrystals but these are extremely glossy and a beautiful bottle-green colour and can be seen to cover an area 13 x 2.5 cm in extent along a joint surface. Ex David Hardman collection, no. 3452, and ex Neal Yedlin (1908-1977) with what appears to be his beautifully written label attached to the back of the specimen. It also comes with a Lythe's Minerals label dating to the 1970s.
