NATIVE Silver and NATIVE Copper$3,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This wonderful miniature specimen is a corker from the legendary Calumet & Hecla mine in Houghton Co., Michigan famed for fabulous crystallized specimens of both Native Silver and Native Copper. On this specimen extremely rich hackly branches of Native Silver (up to 3.3 cm in length) protrude upwards from a smaller area of Native Copper, with patches of intergrowth between the two metals. Flashes of white from remaining patches of Calcite, which once encapsulated all of the metal add to the aesthetic qualities of this lovely historic specimen. The back of the specimen is a smooth surface, probably marking the edge of the vein/mineralization. A small date label attached to this specimen records 17/2/93, which most likely refers to 1893! In 1871, Calumet & Hecla mine formed from the consolidation of several smaller mines and operations continued through until 1968. Ex David Hardman collection, no. 356.
