Topaz, Aquamarine, Muscovite, and Cleavelandite
We love gem species, and gem species in combination can produce, with the right matrix, some devastatingly beautiful specimens that stand out for the combination rather than for any single dominant crystal or species. This is a highly unusual combination gem crystal specimen because you have both topaz and aquamarine in close, and balanced, association! The aquamarine is 5.5 cm and the topaz is 4.5 cm tall and nearly 3 cm thick. It is a TOTAL gem crystal with glassy luster and clean transparency to it. It is almost pristine, with no repairs and only a tiny little side restoration (epoxy) on the back and rear corner of the topaz - minimal and acceptable in context. The piece is further accented and in fact unique among previous combo finds, for the presence of the metallic bronze-colored mica blades that are like flowers or outgrowths around the gem crystals. Then, the whole cluster of gem crystals is on perfect, snow white, dramatically contrasting matrix of cleavelandite. It is literally a pocket piece of all these species in such a crazy and beautiful aesthetic balance, that it stands out from decades of previous finds of either topaz or aquamarine. The topaz looks like material from Dassu, but our source in Peshawar says these were from the old aquamarine mining areas in Shengus (in any case, in the same region of Pakistan). Complete and displayable all around, although we have a personal favorite front angle.
