NATIVE Copper$450.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This lovely miniature Native Copper specimen is something of a rarity. It is from Weyerhauser Copper mines in Douglas County, Wisconsin, which, despite numerous attempts at working, failed to be economically viable. The mine explored mineralized meta-basalt of Keweenawan age as an extension from the extremely productive sequence in neighbouring Michigan. Unfortunately, although Native Copper was found it was too dispersed and sporadic to be workable. This specimen has almost sculptural qualities and is an extremely fine testament to the work that was undertaken at the mine. Ex David Hardman collection, no. 6015.
