Description

Benitoite, the famous blue triangles from California, is one of the world's rarest and most beautiful of gem species for both color and form. This mine is still there, but largely unproductive and specimens like this are almost certainly a thing of the past. The piece features two large crystals, 1.6 and 1.8 cm across, balanced on nice white matrix of natrolite, on rock. The upper crystal in particular, is razor sharp and perfect...just a textbook example. It is tempting to trim it off to make a world class thumbnail out of it! Old material from an old collection.
