These unique calcites have been coming out of North Vernon for over 70 years. They are well known for their honey gold color, complex morphology, twinning, and top notch luster. This locality is no longer productive and these have become a midwest classic. I note two twinning planes on this specimen. One side has a contact where a crystal was once embedded into the crystal, producing a nice geometric imprint.
