Almandine
World-renowned for the quality of its Almandine crystals, Garnet Ledge, Wrangell City and Borough, Alaska has produced remarkably well-formed crystals with superb faces and a deep burgundy red colour. The site though is pretty much worked out. This small cabinet specimen features a single extremely well-formed trapezohedron Almandine crystal on matrix (schist). The crystal, which reaches 2.5 cm across, has been well prepared, with just the tiniest of marks to its surface and shows internal flashes of a deep red colour.
