Description
I think one of the more notable specimens from this important collection, an exceptional grouping of needle ore golden goethite almost 8.0 cm across in a cluster with glistening colorless crystallized balls of calcite to 3.2 cm in diameter. The calcite crystals are fluorescent red under longwave ultraviolet light. This unique and attractive piece is in super condition. The specimen has been figured several times in The Mineralogical Record, once in the May, June, 2020 issue, page 441, figure 59. Also in the January, February, 2024 issue, page 98, figure 31. This was also figured in the book by Robertson and LaBerge, 2013, page 31, figure number 72. This was out on display for the public at the Tucson 2017, East Coast 2018, in Denver, 2023 shows.
