Azurite on Malachite$20,000.00

An attractive azurite specimen from the heyday of the Milpillas Mine and finds circa 2012-14, which is now but a memory with major pieces all placed in the major collections of the day. Several, super-lustrous, royal blue azurite crystals from 4 mm to an amazing 4 cm cover almost the entire display surface and combine to form an upright cluster of elegant growth which stands upon bright green, velvety malachite on this attractive, elongated piece. The azurite crystals are complex in form and taper up to their perfectly formed terminations. They show gemmy highlights of classic Milpillas electric blue internally and the contrast of the royal blue azurite on the velvety green malachite is incredibly pleasing to the eye. The azurites are sharply formed and free of damage except only two small contacts apparent only up close, one on the top-rear of the piece where an azurite crystal was restricted or contacted. The piece displays very well as a vertical, with some dramatic placement of crystals atop to give shape...a very different horizon than so many large Milpillas specimens. Jack loved azurite, loved blue, and Milpillas was really his final emphasis in collecting world class minerals to add value from contemporary finds to the collection when he was in his 90s. This is simply gorgeous!
