Fluorite
Classic baby blue to pastel blue French Fluorite from the famous Le Burg mine near Alban, Tarn, Midi-Pyrénées, France. The colour of this cabinet specimen varies depending on the light source, but can be a beautiful pale blue for which this mine is renowned. The crystals are translucent and slightly resinous in their lustre, rather than fully glassy and reach over 1.5 cm on edge. There is minor scuffing on some of the crystal edges and a sparse coating of tiny sulphide crystals (possibly Chalcopyrite) on the edges of the surface of some crystals. Overall, this is a very attractive Le Burg mine Fluorite. Le Burg was the last Fluorite mine to operate in France, closing in 2006.
