Anp
Description
Anapaite is an unusual hydrated calcium iron phosphate usually found within fossilized bivalve shells. The species was first described from Zheleznyi Rog, Anapa, Taman Peninsula, Krasnador Krai, Russia but the same geological horizon extends across the Kerch Strait and on the Kerch Peninsula, Crimea, Ukraine where much richer specimens have been obtained. This miniature specimen is from the Kerch Peninsula and consists of a crystal-lined cavity richly invested with sharp, bladed, gooseberry green Anapaite crystals to around 2 mm in size.
Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
