Scheelite on Quartz
Up until the finds in China in the early 2000s, the Scheelite from Tae Hwa mine in South Korea was considered the benchmark for the species. This small cabinet specimen is a good example of why. At over 6 cm across, this perfectly formed octahedral Scheelite crystal is an absolute beauty, sitting wonderfully upon a small bed of white Quartz crystals. In reality, it looks more like a pyramid, or even a snowy mountain, for it has a thin white film across its surface which adds to its character. Its edges are sharp and clean, and apart from one missing lower corner and perhaps colour, is the perfect example of what a Scheelite crystal should look like.
