Calcite with Duftite
Duftite coating rhombic Calcite crystals from Tsumeb is admittedly a common association, but this combination, together with the countless ways the two can display together, always makes for a pleasing and different specimen. This good sized cabinet specimen is no exception and I have to say, in a complimentary way, it is a rustic looking specimen; not particularly refined, but exuding a rugged aesthetic appeal. The Calcite forms almost cubic rhombs of opaque to translucent white, all with stepped surfaces giving them a much more complex appearance. Examined closely, for all Star Trek aficionados, it reminds me of a Borg cube, but not so scary! The Calcite surfaces are included and coated with pistachio green Duftite, a lead-copper arsenate.\n
