Fluorite
The discovery of amazing purple Fluorite crystals with unusually modified crystal faces in Ireland a few years back came as a real surprise to the mineral collecting world. Nothing remotely similar had been known about in Ireland. This miniature specimen from Arvid Pasto's collection (no. AEP2125) displays the iconic beveled edged crystals, to 9 mm on edge, with a rich deep purple colour (although the original label markets it as "Blue Fluorite"). Many of the crystals have a small amount of damage to them, but this is still a good example of this modern classic.
