Fluorite with Quartz
A stunning light, grading to deep sky blue Fluorite from Le Burg mine (aka Le Burc mine) in Tarn, Midi-Pyrénées, France, about 100 km north east of Toulouse. Sharp edged, cubic crystals, in varying shades of vivid sky blue, cover a milky Quartz matrix. These are lightly dusted around the periphery of the display face with glassy druses of small milky Quartz crystals. The Fluorite is translucent with a slighted frosted texture and lustre. Le Burg was the last operating Fluorite mine in France, working a rich Fluorite vein which extended for about 1200 m (1.2 km). This is a pristine, museum quality cabinet specimen of very fine blue Fluorite from Le Burg.
