Kupletskite with Aegirine and Albite
The quarry at Mont Saint-Hilaire is world famous for its incredible suite of rare minerals and Kupletskite is certainly one of these. Its chemistry is complex, containing fluorine, hydrogen, iron, manganese, niobium, oxygen, potassium, silicon, sodium, and titanium.. This very fine miniature measure up to 5.7 cm and is formed from a porous framework of intergrown creamy white Albite crystals shot through with black to bottle green acicular Aegirine crystals and dark chocolate brown Kupletskite crystals with a glassy lustre. The actual quarry is not named with the specimen; in the past we used to differential between the Poudrette and De Mix (Uni Mix) quarries, but now the dividing rock wall has been removed the whole quarry is now labelled as Poudrette. This is a great specimen of a very rare mineral.
