NADORITE with Smithsonite
Nadorite is a rare lead antimony oxychloride named after the Nador N'Bails mine in Algeria where it was first discovered, and this locality remains the place where the best crystals have been found. This miniature to large miniature specimen is a cracker. It is very displayable, with large (to 1.1 cm in length) bladed Nadorite crystals featuring prominantly spanning a cavity. The Nadorite crystals are mostly seen in cross-section, exposed as the cavity was broken open, but this demonstrates wonderfully the contrasting internal dark brown Nadorite and the yellow outer shell (also Nadorite). The cavities are mostly lined with white Smithsonite which provides a nice contrast to the orange-brown matrix. And what if you want more? Well, the specimen is accompanied by a suite of old labels documenting that it passed from the Bergakademie in Clausthal to the famous collector Dr. Hans-Jurgen Wilke (1925-2014) in 1966. A wonderfully rich Nadorite and full of history.
